Responsibilities
By Statute, the Human Services Department is responsible for administering social services, children’s services and financial assistance programs under state supervision.The Kittson County Social Services Department administers an array of services as established by local, state, and federal law that promotes the protection, support, and rehabilitation of families and individuals. The department is responsible for administration of many programs in the areas of public assistance, child and adult protection, long term care consultation, and services for persons with developmental disabilities/related conditions, mental illness, other disabilities, and chemical dependency. There is also support for both custodial and non-custodial parents in the establishment and enforcement of child support, child care and medical support.
