Truth in Taxation
Minnesota Statute requires cities with a population over 500, counties, school districts, and some additional government units to schedule and hold public truth in taxation meetings, adopt and certify a proposed and final property tax levy, and document compliance with the truth in taxation law. Between November 11 and November 24 of each year counties must deliver a parcel-specific notice of proposed property taxes to each property owner. Between November 25 and December 8 of each year counties are required to hold public meeting on the proposed budget and property tax, and allow for public comment and question.
